APPLICATION OF WELDED SPIRAL HEAT EXCHANGERS IN THE PRODUCTION OF ETHANOL
admin 2 3 февраля 2021In the production of ethanol, the use of spiral heat exchangers has found wide use. Spiral heat exchangers are divided into:
- according to the method of arrangement-horizontal, vertical, inclined;
- by design features-collapsible, welded (soldered);
- according to the material of manufacture-structural steel, stainless steel.
In many production sites for the production of ethanol used dismountable spiral heat exchangers. The main applications are recovery cycles (heating/cooling of water), cooling of wort to the temperature of the fold before feeding to fermentation machines( fermentation machines), control of the temperature of the mash during fermentation (fermentation).
The advantages of collapsible spiral heat exchangers include prompt access to the coils of the heat exchanger for visual inspection and cleaning, washing (disinfection).
The main disadvantage of collapsible spiral heat exchangers is the relatively large weight and, as a result, the rather high cost.
Based on the above, we can draw the following conclusion: why not use welded spiral heat exchangers for the same purposes (less weight and cost). The cost of a welded spiral heat exchanger is 40% cheaper than a dismountable one. Maintenance does not require consumables and does not take time to disassemble and assemble it. The welded spiral heat exchanger can also be operated at higher pressure values.
The only caveat is the implementation of cleaning (disinfection). But this problem can also be solved by installing a circulation circuit for cleaning and disinfecting the coils of the heat exchanger.
