Knife gate valves
Flanged gate valve (or knife gate valve) is a universal control valve with a given direction of flow shutoff. The knife gate valve is manufactured in accordance with the EU standard for nominal bore DN 50-1200 for installation between flanges. The valve is a kind of knife, the moving part of which resembles a guillotine and shuts off the flow.
The force that activates the actuator of the moving part of the valve is transmitted to it through the stem. Control can be carried out using pneumatic-electric actuators or a flywheel (steering wheel).
The sliding gate valve has a simple design, which includes the following main elements of the device: body, sliding gate (also known as a knife), seal for tightness, shelf, gland seal knife in the closed position. The tightness of the gate is created by pressing the gate under the influence of pressure, the working medium enters the seal.
A knife valve is used in industry to shut off the flow of the working medium:
- in the presence of abrasive or hard particles;
- with the ability to crystallize;
- with high viscosity.
The valve can be used for various types of bulk materials or thick viscous solutions:
- granulated;
- crushed into powder;
- fibrous;
- chemically active substances, etc.
The gate valve is used in sewerage and wastewater pipelines, pulp and paper industry, chemical industry equipment, oil refineries, farms, mines, treatment plants, etc. They are also used in pipelines for transporting cement, polymer crumbs, grain, petroleum products, food products, wood and cellulose, shredded textile materials, etc.
The knife gate valve is made of cast iron or stainless steel, as well as protected from corrosion. The characteristics and dimensions of the product may vary from model to model. The gate valve can be single-acting or double-acting.
