A butterfly valve (gate) is a type of shut-off and control valve. The rotary disc shut-off element is located at an angle or perpendicular to the flow of the working medium. When the rod rotates around its axis using a gearbox, electric drive or manually using a handle, the disk rotates inside the valve body, ensuring complete or partial blocking of the flow of working fluid.
Butterfly valves are produced: with a nominal diameter DN (Dn) from 25 to 1600 mm; with pressure Ру (Pn) from 10 to kgf/cm2; With permissible working fluid temperature from 70 to 425; With a disc made of cast iron, steel, fluoroplastic, stainless steel 08Х18Н10, 07Х18Н9Л, 08Х17Н13М2, 12Х13, malleable cast iron, NBR nitrile rubber, EPDM; With seal made of fluoroplastic, NBR rubber, EPDM, VITON, steel, ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber M-class; For shutting off water, steam, liquefied gas, food products, oil products, air, glycol, waste water, chemically active liquids, fresh water, bulk materials.
It is necessary to select shut-off valves taking into account the diameter of the pipe for which the valve is intended. Before installation, there is no need to carry out a hydraulic calculation, because the pressure practically does not lose its power.
It is necessary to select shut-off valves based on two parameters - the nominal pressure and the temperature of the medium passing through the pipes. The operating pressure must be less than the nominal one, and the temperature of the medium must correspond to the permissible temperature limits for use of the fittings themselves. It is not recommended to use valves in areas where pressure and temperature reach the maximum permissible readings.
