Vortex flowmeters have been successfully installed in a wide range of industries and applications, including:
A particularly popular application of vortex flowmeters in all industries is steam flow measurement. Vortex flowmeters measure volumetric flow, but in steam systems it is common to use either "mass" or "energy" parameters, so vortex flowmeters are often installed at the measuring point in combination with a pressure and/or temperature sensor and a flow computer. This helps save energy and is an ideal solution for distributing production costs among many consumers.
A vortex flow meter is the only type of flow meter that can measure all three phases of a fluid—liquid, gas, and vapor. Vortex flowmeters use a single flow measurement technology capable of steam flow measurement in one integrated package; this ability makes it the best and most economical solution for steam flow measurement. A vortex meter may also have integrated pressure and temperature measurement to measure the flow rate of compressed gas and steam to allow the meter to compensate for variations in pressure and temperature that would affect the volumetric flow rate of the compressible fluid. The vortex counter's design with no moving parts provides users with reliable, maintenance-free operation and long service life even in dirty and contaminated environments.
